Nitriding steels are special grades low alloy surface hardened steels containing Carbon 0.3 to 0.45% and Cr-Mo as alloying elements with or without Al.
These alloys when heated at about 500-525 deg C, in contact with cracked ammonia, nascent nitrogen diffuses into surface and forms complex alloy nitrides imparting very high
